Parents
Contribute to School Success
Parents are the childs primary teachers.
Good habits and positive attitudes toward school begin at
home. Parents can contribute to their childs school
success by:
* Assuring prompt and regular school attendance and complying
with attendance rules and procedures.
* Talking with your child daily about school activities and
showing an active interest in their assignments.
* Provide a regular place and time for homework assignments.
* Teaching the child about respect for the law, those in authority,
the rights of others, and for private and public property.
* Reinforcing the positive character traits

Philosophy
We, at Tiffany Park Elementary School, believe
that students need to be taught and have opportunities to practice
appropriate social and personal behavior. Children need to respect
themselves and others. Their behavior must not infringe upon
a teacher's right to teach or another student's right to learn.
Children must be given clear expectations which are fairly and
consistently reinforced, and given recognition for appropriate
behavior. Ultimately, students need to learn self-management
techniques which will help them to become a successful part
of society throughout their lives.

|
Objectives
The Tiffany Park staff will:
1) Teach students appropriate behavior options
2) Provide opportunities to practice these skills
3) Recognize students for appropriate behaviors
4) Assist students in determining and utilizing appropriate
behaviors
5) Reduce behaviors that may harm or show disrespect toward
themselves, staff, or other students
* Act safely
* Act responsibly
* Show respect
* Follow directions
* Participate

Principal Referrals
When a student is referred to the principal by
a Tiffany Park Elementary School staff member, the student will
confer with the principal as soon as possible following the
reported infraction.
First visit: The principal will discuss the referral with the
student. The student may help to determine the course of action.
Parents will be notified of the incident and plan of action
by phone and/or letter.
Second visit: A logical consequence(s) will be employed. Parents
may be invited to meet with the student, principal and appropriate
staff to discuss the situation.
Third visit: Parents will be expected to attend a conference
with the student, principal, and appropriate staff to discuss
the situation. A contract may be developed and will require
the commitment of all involved.
Fourth visit: The student may serve a minimum of three hours
on In-School suspension. Parents will first be contacted, and
the contract will be reviewed and possibly revised to reflect
the nature of the most recent infraction.
A principal referral for severe or continued misbehavior will
result in suspension from school for 1 to 5 days according to
WAC and/or RCW regulations. The student will not be readmitted
to school until a conference involving the student, parent(s),
principal, and appropriate staff has occurred.
