PTA
COMMITTEES: Volunteers are needed for all committees. Please contact
President Tharon Knittle if you are interested in serving on one
of the following committees:
Teacher Appreciation
Job description: Responsible for recruiting volunteers to make
and serve a lunch to our staff at Tiffany Park. A small token
of our appreciation is also given to each staff member. Teacher
Appreciation week is always in May.
Spring Social
Job description: Responsible for putting on a party! Pick a theme,
arrange volunteers to decorate, man concession sales and clean
up.
Spirit Sales
Job description: Responsible for distributing order forms and
collecting monies for Tiffany Park T-shirts and other spirit items
in the fall.
Skate Parties
Job description: Responsible for manning the window and collecting
money at each skate party held every other month at TLC in Kent.
Also must set skate party dates of the following year.
Science Fair
Job description: Responsible for setting up a committee to help
with the set-up and takedown of the event, arranging for judges,
and sending home information to the students. Project boards and
ribbons must be bought.
Takes place the end of January.
Reflections Art Contest
Job description: Responsible for distributing materials to students
educating them about the contest, collecting entries, arranging
for judging of entries and sending Tiffany Park winners on the
next level. All materials are provided by Council PTA.
Reading/Math Program
Job description: Responsible for distributing and collecting students
reading and math time sheets. Reading program runs September thru
December, and math program runs January thru April. Chair will
staff 4 incentive events throughout the program at recesses.
Popcorn
Job description: Responsible for keeping popcorn popping each
Friday at all lunches, 11:15 to 12:30 pm. Must schedule and train
volunteers to work each Friday, as well as, purchase supplies
and maintain machine.
Nomination
Job description: Responsible for distributing nomination requests
for the Golden Acorn Award, the Outstanding Educator award, and
PTA officers for the following year. Work starts in May.
Label’s for Education
Job description: Responsible for promoting the saving of Campbell
Soup labels, preparing the labels to send and choosing the rewards
with input from staff.
Hospitality
Job description: Responsible for organizing volunteers to provide
cookies and coffee at functions throughout the year.
Health Screenings
Job description: Responsible for working with school Nurse to
coordinate volunteers to assist with vision and hearing screenings
in the fall, and scoliosis screenings in the spring.
Fundraiser
Job description: Responsible for working with a company to run
a campaign, distributing materials to students, collecting orders,
and coordinating delivery of goods. Work with Treasurer to account
monies Field Day/Family Fun Nights
BBQ
Job description: Responsible for organizing volunteers to staff
field events in the a.m. and arrange BBQ with the kitchen staff
for lunch. Held the last week of school.
Family Fun Nights
Job description: Responsible for 2 Family Events, one Halloween
Carnival (October) and one Bingo Night (February). Chair recruits
volunteers to help with the theme, decoration, concessions, and
take down.
Emergency Preparedness
Job description: Responsible for sitting on the building emergency
preparedness committee and reporting back to PTA.
Book Fair
Job description: Responsible for organizing volunteers to host
a Scholastic Book Fair Conference Week. Volunteers
will help set-up, cashier and take down the fair. Proceeds benefit
the TP library.
Back to School BBQ
Job description: Responsible for organizing volunteers to work
at BBQ to be held the week before school starts (when class lists
come out).
Art Docent
Job description: Responsible for training and organizing volunteers
to present short art lessons in classrooms once a month.
5th Grade Camp
Job description: Responsible for raising money for all staff,
parent chaperones, and students to go to Camp in April.
