Talbot Hill is a MicroSociety® of caring and responsible citizens.
We are located at 2300 Talbot Road South, Renton, WA 98055. We are approximately 1.5 miles north of Valley Medical Center, next to Teasdale Park. For directions, click here. Our office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
School hours are from 9:00 am to 3:35 pm. Please do not let your student arrive before 8:40 am as there is no supervision before then. AM Kindergarten is from 9:00 - 11:40 am, PM Kindergarten is 1:00 - 3:35 pm. Please check the District's calendar for attendance on Late Start days. Extended day Kindergarten follow the same calendar for Late Start and Early Dismissal as Grades 1-5, and usually attends from 9:00 - 3:35 pm.
If you have questions about your student's bus stop and time, please call Transportation at 425-204-4455. To see the bus schedule, click here.
Thursday is "Red Folder" day - when a red folder is sent home with your student with all school announcements and information. Watch for it in your student's backpack!
We are creating an email distribution list in order to enhance communication with our Talbot Hill families. In these times more and more of us are communicating by email. We’ll be using this distribution list for school calendar reminders, updates, and volunteer opportunities. Addresses will be blind copied to protect your email address. This distribution list will only be used for communication between Talbot Hill and our families. If you would like to be included, please reply via email to sharon.chilenski@renton.wednet.edu
For a list of recommended school supplies, see our supply lists. Your child's teacher may request some specific items for their class. Please remember to label all of your child's items with their name - including jackets, lunchboxes, backpacks and other school supplies. Also be sure to include a personal survival kit for each of your students. In case there is an emergency when the students need to stay at school for an extended time, they will need food and emergency supplies.

We are always finding clothing and personal items left by children throughout the school. If your child is missing something, please have them check the lost & found in the cafeteria. Unclaimed clothing is given to charity.
Talbot Hill has been working on establishing clear expectations for student's behavior while they are at school. These expectations have the acronym C.A.R.E.
C - Cooperate
A - Always Respectful
R - Responsible & Ready
E - Everyone's Safe.
CARE expectations have been established for the classrooms, hallways, computer lab, library, playground, music, cafeteria, assemblies, bus line, restrooms, gym and fire drills. For example:
C expectations (Cooperation) include listening and following directions;
A expectations (Always Respectful) include treating others with respect and kindness;
R expectations (Responsible & Ready) include taking care of equipment;
E expectations (Everyone's Safe) include watching out for others and keeping hands, feet & body to yourself.
To see the common area expectations, click here. In additon, expectations have also been created for the Music room, PE, Library and the Computer lab. Click here to see those expectations. Each teacher has CARE expectations for the classroom
Breakfast is availablebefore school, and costs $1.00. Hot lunch is also available, and costs $2.00. Milk may be purchased at lunch for 35¢. Application may be made to the office for free or reduced prices for both breakfast and lunch.
Please call our attendance line - 425-204-4901- to report your student's absence as soon as possible on the day your student will be absent. The office is open from 8 am - 4:30 pm. If you call prior to the office opening, please leave us a message that includes the date, your student's name and teacher, and the reason for the absence. If you make a homework request before 9:00 am, the homework will be available in the school office at the end of the day.
How do you know if you should keep your child home? If their temperature is 100 degrees or over or if they have experienced chills, cough that lasts 5 days or longer, eyes that are red, draining or crusted, a rash of unknown cause, or vomitingwithin the last 24 hours. We recommend that a student be free of a fever for at least 24 hours before they return to school. Be sure your child is well enough to participate in the full school program, including going outside for recess.
Please make sure your student's records have current phone numbers for Parents/Guardians or other emergency contacts, so we will be able to reach you in the event of an emergency or if your student gets sick at school.
In the event of snow or icy conditions or other emergencies, announcements are made on all local radio stations after 6:00 am in regards to delayed school start or school closures. Possible announcements are:
You may also check school schedule changes through the Internet - either through a hotlink from a local TV or radio station, or directly at: http://www.schoolreport.org/ and click on the link to Renton School District No. 403. Use your browser's Back button to return to this page.
Are you in Talbot Hill's attendance area? Check the maps from the district. (Use your browser's Back button to return here.) These maps are in PDF format and require Acrobat Reader to view them. Come to our office to register your child. Bring with you: the name and address of your child's previous school, immunization dates, doctor's and dentist's names and phone numbers, and the names of 2 friends or family members that could be called in the event of an emergency at school.
For Kindergartners, bring your child's birth certificate. Your child must be 5 years old by August 31 to register for Kindergarten, and all immunizations must be completed before the child enters school.
Our Extended Day Kindergarten is tuition supplemented. The age and registration requirements for the Extended Day Kindergarten are the same as for half-day Kindergartners. Please contact the school for tuition information.
Children entering school are required to be immunized for: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and Hepatitis B. Before entering 6th grade, 5th graders will need to receive a booster for measles, mumps and rubella. Exceptions may be made, see Mrs. Patterson or Mrs. Abernethy for details.
There is no before and/or after school care at Talbot Hill. Contact local day care providers.
The Discovery Program for Renton's South & West Hills is at Talbot Hill Elementary. The Discovery Program identifies gifted students in the Renton School District, and places them in accelerated classes. The Discovery Program at Talbot Hill serves students from Campbell Hill, Bryn Mawr, Lakeridge, Talbot Hill, Renton Park, Benson Hill, Tiffany Park and Cascade. We welcome the students and their siblings who have joined them at Talbot.
Renton School District has designated Talbot Hill as a mini-magnet program for the MicroSociety Program. Students from throughout the District are invited to come to Talbot Hill to participate in the MicroSociety program.
Title 1 is a federal program which provides money to qualifying school districts to develop programs designed to provide additional educational support and instruction in reading, math and language arts. Schools are selected based on the percentage of students in economic need. LAP (Learning Assistance Program) is funded by the state to provide extra reading and math help to students. Talbot Hill is one of Renton School District's "schoolwide" programs. All students at Talbot are eligible to receive Title 1 services according to Talbot's schoolwide plan. Click here for a brochure that explains Title 1 and LAP services within the Renton School District.
