Special Education Services

The Special Education Services Department includes the following programs: Health Services and Health Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, Head Start, ECEAP, Even Start, Griffin Home, Adult Transition Program, Counseling, Psychology, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy services, Home Hospital and Contract School. It is hoped that you will find the website full of useful information that will help you understand programs available to you and your children and whom to contact for assistance.

As parents, you know your children best. Your experiences provide valuable insight for school staff in developing and implementing appropriate programs for them. YOU, and when appropriate your children, are important partners in the learning process. As a member of the district’s educational team, your partnership is a key ingredient to determining an appropriate program for your children.

You will find each school and program has a dedicated group of professionals who strive to create an enjoyable and challenging learning environment for your children. Teachers and support staff are consistently assessing student performance and provide individual programming to meet each student’s identified need. Individual student success can be attributed to a staff that demonstrates resourcefulness, expertise and commitment to student achievement and educational excellence.
