Basic
Program
The program at Sartori
emphasizes
work habits, attitudes, and job skills students need to successfully
transition from the school environment to the world of work. Industry
standards regarding attendance, punctuality, performance, positive
attitude, interpersonal skills, appropriate dress, and preparedness
are daily priorities.
A variety of courses are offered at Sartori Education Center. Students
usually study one subject at a time while working in an environment
that provides timely and continuous feedback. Sartori Education Center
offers students the opportunity to work at their own pace, completing
courses according to their individual rate and ability level. Sartori
class times vary, allowing for individual learning styles and needs.
Students are assigned to one teacher and stay in the same classroom
for their five-hour class. They are required to complete a syllabus
of assignments and demonstrate competency in each course. Credit
is issued at that time. The teacher monitors self-paced learning,
issuing
letter grades for completed work. Textbooks,
computers and audiovisual equipment are supplied. Students
are to provide their own paper, pencils, and personal hygiene supplies.
Other aspects of the basic program include:
Work-Related Experience As Sartori prepares its students
for transitioning into the world of work, students are expected to
complete a job-related activity during their enrollment. This may
range from job shadowing, to internship, to employment.
Technology The current job market requires employees to
have a basic computer background. Prior to graduation, Sartori students
must show competence in the "Introduction to Technology"
course. This may be accomplished by transferring the credit from a
prior high school or by completing the class while enrolled at Sartori. |
