Classified Application Requirements

Thank you for your interest in the Renton School District . Please read the following requirements carefully. The main body of the application is to be filled out online and you will submit it electronically. There are a number of supplemental items which must be submitted separately in order for your application to be complete (see below). Careful attention to the application and to providing all of the information requested is the most important first step in applying for any position. Everything you wish to have considered needs to appear in the application. Remember you are competing with all other applicants for available positions. Submission of the online application makes you an active candidate, however, in order for your application to be complete and considered for open positions all supplementary information must have been received. You will receive e-mail notification when all information to complete your application has been received.

Important Note: If you are interested in a particular open position, please be sure to specifically apply for that position online. It is important to do so in order to be ensured of consideration for positions. Here is the process: Go into your online application using your password. At the top of the application, there is a teal colored menu. Click on 'Open Jobs'. A row of tabs will appear. Click on Classified Positions. Next, scroll to the right of the position you are interested in and click on the word 'Apply'. That's all there is to it! Please do the same for each position you are interested in applying for.

Applications will not be kept active beyond one year from the submission date, unless renewed and/or updated by the applicant.

Position openings are posted on this online application system as well as through our web site: http://www.renton.wednet.edu and on the District's 24-hour job line (425) 204-2305.

To use the Online Application to apply for an administrative position in the Renton School District follow the procedures listed below (You may wish to print these procedures for quick reference.):

Please Note : If you do not complete your application and transmit it within ninety (90) days, it will be removed from our online system.

First Time Visitor - Registration Process Required
If you have never registered with our OnLine Application system, and you are not a previous employee use this option to begin the initial application activity. You will be asked to supply your contact information, including an email address. The online system will then send you a password to that email address. Once that is received you will log onto the system thereafter using the Registered User option as seen below. This process is only required one time. DO NOT register twice using different names and/or different email addresses as doing so will cause you to have separate records within the system. If you have any difficulty with the First Time Visitor Registration process just call our office at 425-204-2350 or email us at personnel@renton.wednet.edu.

Registered User
If you are a Renton daily substitute or if you either completed the First Time Visitor process or you have registered as a Previous Employee, the system has emailed you a password. Use the original email you registered with, along with your password to log onto the system. Use this option to begin that activity and complete or update your application information and to apply for specific open positions.

District Employee
If you are a CURRENT District employee (not a daily substitute) interested in applying for another job within the district, use this option. If you have separated your employment, use the Previous Employee option above.

Previous Employee
If you are a previous employee who separated employment within the past five (5) years, use this option to begin the application process. Your records were previously stored in our system with your Social Security Number. The system will look up your old records and include them with the new application you are now submitting. You will then be issued a password. You will no longer use your Social Security Number to log into the system. After you have logged in once with your SSN and obtained your password, you will log on as a Registered User from there on out and will just use your email and password to log onto the system. If you have difficulty with the First Time Visitor Registration process just call our office at 425-204-2350 or email us at personnel@renton.wednet.edu.

  1. Employment Application Form. Click on Application and complete each of the sections beginning with Preferences. Fill out the remaining sections on the Application Menu including Degrees, Certificates, Licenses, Skills, Experience, and References.
  2. Inserts. There are several inserts in the Inserts section. Other inserts are required as indicated. These are print documents. These forms must be completed by all applicants. Clicking on print to the right of the name of the form opens the document; print and complete all documents. Sign and submit the forms to Human Resources along with the information requested in items 3, 4, 5 and 6 below. Applicants are advised that they will be subject to all regulations as well as state background checks. When an offer of employment is made, new employees who will or may have unsupervised access to children, developmentally disabled persons, or vulnerable adults must complete a background check for criminal history, including a fingerprint check, by the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as a current written disclosure of specified criminal convictions and civil or disciplinary board findings. Any offer of employment is conditional upon the successful outcome of the criminal history background check and approval by the District's Board of Directors.
  3. General Cover Letter. Prepare a general cover letter stating the position(s) in which you are interested and your qualifications for the position(s).
  4. Current Resume. A resume of your work experience, education and special skills should be included. This will help to “fill in the gaps” left by the District application.
  5. Letters of Recommendation. Two recommendations are required. Your application is considered incomplete without them.
  6. Copies of College Transcripts. Transcripts are helpful in the screening process and are not normally included in your placement file. (Official transcripts will be required upon employment.)

Upon completion of your application, you can click on Summary and review and print a copy of your application. When you are ready to transmit your application, click on Home and click on the Submit tab. You will then need to read the Certification, Authorization and Release and type YES in caps if you agree. Then click on Submit and your application will be transmitted. If you have further questions, please call our office at (425) 204-2350.
