Community award recognizes Renton teachers
Nominations sought for annual Ahead of the Class award

January 8, 2008 - Local business leaders are looking for your help in recognizing Renton teachers. Members of the Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce will honor Renton teachers with the eighth annual "Ahead of the Class" award.

The Ahead of the Class award is truly a unique and wonderful opportunity to honor Renton teaching staff. The recognition is designed to highlight teachers who are the heart of the school system and work to nurture and prepare children for a productive future.
Please take a moment to nominate (application attached) a deserving teacher for this award.

Teachers selected will receive a cash award of $500 and be honored at a community ceremony and dessert reception on May 6, 7 p.m. at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center.

A nomination form is attached. The form is a self-mailer: print it, fill it out, affix a stamp and send it to the Chamber office by February 6, 2008.

Timeline for Ahead of the Class Award:

• Selection Committee review/interviews: March 19-25
• Award winners announced: March 28
• Awards presentation: May 6, 7 p.m. at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center
