Renton School District to soon announce make up days for school closures

Tuesday, December 19, 2006—The Renton School District is working with union representatives and school principals to set make up dates for school closures due to inclement weather and power outages.

The original school calendar set May 25 as a snow make up day. That day will now be a student school day.

As of today, two more days will need to be scheduled to make up for an additional snow day and a power outage that closed the district. Those days likely will be added to the end of the school year pending further discussions with principals and union representatives; which will extend the school year into the fourth week of June.

Additional days will be added to this school year if more district-wide closures are needed.

The few schools that were closed for an extended time because power outages will not be required to make up additional school days beyond those set for the whole district.

Communication about the scheduled make up days will begin immediately when decisions are made.
