District prepares for possible school closures tomorrow in case of power outages, fallen trees due to wind storm
Parents, students should monitor news for more information on closures
Thursday, December 14, 2006—Meteorologist at the National Weather Service and the University of Washington are forecasting wind gusts tonight throughout Puget Sound from 65 mph to 90 mph.
Such wind force may likely bring power outages and fallen trees throughout the area, possibly leaving Renton schools in the dark and without heat, and school buses unable to move through neighborhoods to transport students.
In case of power outages and downed trees, individual schools, or the district as a whole, might be closed tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 15.
The district will make determinations on school closures beginning as early as tonight. Communication of closures will be made through radio and television stations.
Please be prepared to monitor radio and television stations tomorrow morning to learn of district or individual school closures. Battery-powered devices will be needed in case power is out at your home as well.
