Nominations sought for Ahead of the Class awards

Teacher awards bring recognition and $500 cash

Local business leaders are again looking for nominations of Renton teachers for the annual Ahead of the Class award.
Each year, business leaders and other members of the Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce honor Renton teachers with the award.
Please take time to nominate a deserving teacher for this award; a truly unique and wonderful opportunity to honor Renton teaching staff. Teachers selected for the award will receive a cash gift of $500 and be honored at a ceremony and dessert reception on May 8, 7 p.m. at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, at Renton High School.

A nomination form is attached to this message and a few dozen hardcopy forms have been sent to each school and district building.

Nomination forms are due to the Chamber office by Thursday, February 8. The nomination forms are self-mailers: you need only to fill it out, affix a stamp and send it to the Chamber office. Another option is to send the nomination forms (before Feb. 8) to the district’s Community Relations Office.

Timeline for Ahead of the Class Award:

· Deadline for nominations: February 8

· Award winners announced: March 30

· Awards presentation: May 8, 7 p.m. at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center
