10th grade WASL scores to
be received in homes in early June
Summer school still available for students who
will retake tests
May 25, 2006 - By mid-June, high
school students in the classes of 2006, 2007 and 2008 who took
the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) will be
mailed an individual score report with final and accurate scores
on reading, writing and math tests.
These scores are important in determining whether a student
should attend summer school to be prepared to retake any or
all WASL tests in which they did not make a passing grade.
There is still time to sign up for WASL summer school by calling
your high school.
Beginning with the class of 2008,
this year’s sophomores,
every student in Washington state must pass all WASL tests
in order to graduate. Students who did not pass this year’s
10th grade reading, writing or math portions of the WASL can
retake tests in early August. WASL retakes for the all district
students will be administered at Renton High School on August
7–10 (see chart below). To be eligible to take these
tests, students must register with the state’s education
office online at www.k12.wa.us/waslregistration,
or by phone from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon.-Fri. at 1-866-400-WASL
(9275).
