New York based composer/pianist to lead Nelsen Middle
School students in concert on May 13
Concert includes West
Coast premier of new CD “Joyful”
New York based composer and pianist Pete Malinverni will lead
the Nelsen Middle School Concert Chorus in two concert performances
on Saturday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Carco Theatre,
1717 Maple Valley Hwy, Renton. Tickets are $7 for adults and
$5 students.
The performances will include
newly-written music which is included on Malinverni’s new CD/DVD “Joyful.” The
release of the CD coincides with the concert and doubles as
the West Coast premier of “Joyful.” Jazz Times
Magazine, a national publication will be at Carco to review
the new CD: possibly the first time Jazz Times has reviewed
a concert involving a youth chorus.
Malinverni and vocalist Jody Sandhaus will be accompanied
by Brian Hoskins, Nelsen Middle School choral conductor and
Seattle musicians Chuck Deardorf, bass and Mark Ivester, drums.
The group also will perform a short set together highlighting
the new CD before the Nelsen choir joins in.
Pete Malinverni is a highly respected presence in New York
City, at national concert performances, as well as in Europe,
South America, and Japan.
