as 21st Century School of Distinction - Talbot Hill Elementary
School has been selected as a Twenty-First Century
School
of Distinction
Award winner, as named by Intel Corporation, Scholastic Inc., and
the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Foundation.
June 15, 2004 - Summer Traffic Safety Classes - Two
Traffic Safety classes will be offered during summer 2004.
June 10, 2004 -District
to Begin Review of School Boundaries -
Board members at the June 9 meeting established a timeline and
determined
recommendations to begin a process to review school boundaries.
June 10, 2004 - New Legislation Requires
Students Who Fail WASL to Have Individual Learning Plans - Next
year's
ninth-grade students who failed in one or more areas of their seventh-grade
Washington
Assessment of Student Learning
(WASL) must be provided a learning plan to assure continued progress
in academic achievement and to assure that students are on track
for high school graduation.

and State Offices Open Friday, June 11 - President
Bush's executive order closing federal government
offices out of respect for the passing
of former President Ronald Reagan will not effect school districts
and other state agencies.
May 20, 2004 - District's Financial
Operations Receives Outstanding Results in State Audit -Good business
practices in the Renton School District were acknowledged today when state auditors
reported that after an eight-week financial accountability
review, no discrepancies in the district's practices were found.

2004 - Middle School and High School Summer School 2004 - Each
comprehensive secondary school will hold its own remediation
summer schoom program.

Graduation Requirements - In just a few years, high
school students in Washington state will be required to meet a series
of
new, rigorous
graduation requirements before they earn a high school diploma.

they like best. Local newspaper announces winners of the Renton

12, 2004 - Kindergarten Registration for 2004-05 School Year
Begins - Registration
will begin Monday, May 3. Parents may register their children
at their
neighborhood school
during regular school
hours.
