Three Lindbergh High seniors, and one Hazen senior have been named National Merit Semifinalists. Approximately 16,000 students nationwide, out of nearly 1.2 million who took the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, became semifinalists. Overall, fewer than 1 percent of each state's graduating class are named semifinalists. Some 34,000 students are named Commended Students by placing among the top five percent who entered the 2000 Merit Program.
