He was selected from a field of three finalists who were interviewed in a public process on December 8 and will serve out the remaining two years of Ms. Barfield’s term. Kawamoto was sworn in at the December 15, regularly scheduled board meeting.

Kawamoto, who manages a family-owned construction business, brings significant experience and skill to the board having served on the Gifted Education Citizens’ Advisory Committee, Advisory Committee for Education, Boundary Committee, and is currently the chair for the 2000 Maintenance and Operations Levy. He is also a wrestling official and a member of the Western Washington Wrestling Officials Association.
