School Board Election
Renton School Board Incumbents Re-elected
New Member Joins Board
The results from the November 2, 1999 King County
Elections are complete. With three open board seats, two incumbent
directors were re-elected and a new board member joins the five
member board.
Incumbent Joy Poff ran unopposed for the District
Director No. 1 position. She captured 100% of the vote with a
total of 15,797.
District Director No. 3 incumbent Susan Guerrero
defeated District PTA President Lynn Desmarais with 56.5% of the
vote at 10,180. Desmarais garnered 7,810 votes for a 43.41% showing.
David Merrill ran unopposed for the District Director
No. 4 position vacated by Jim Berwick. Merrill received 15,112
votes at 100%.
District Director No. 2 Scott Kaseburg's seat was
not up for re-election and the board is in the process of filling
the Director No. 5 seat that was made vacant by the death of Beverly
Barfield.
