School Board Director Beverly G. Barfield Dies Beverly Barfield wanted to make sure all children succeed in school. That passion was the main reason she served on the Renton School District Board. On Sunday, October 17, she and her husband John, were involved in a single car accident that claimed her life. Ms. Barfield has served as a board member since 1991. She brought a great deal of compassion, warmth and kindness to the organizations she served and the people she touched. As a 22 year resident of Renton, she was involved in numerous community organizations. "Bev was an anchor in our community. She was a strong advocate for children, families and the community at large," said Superintendent Dolores Gibbons. "We have lost an extraordinary person and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family."
