Task Force Continues Work to Review School Overcrowding
October 14, 2004 - The Boundary Review Task Force continues work to develop options to fix the problem of overcrowding at some district schools. The group defined problems with current boundaries at a previous meeting; which also included too few students at some schools, fragmented boundaries at others and a growing number of families moving into certain school boundary areas.
Task force members, consisting mostly of parents from the various high school service areas, worked in small groups to review problem areas specific to their neighborhoods. The group will share their ideas to the full task force at the next meeting, on Oct. 26.
While parents and community members are welcome at all meetings, community forums are planned in each service area to offer current thinking by the task force and solicit input from the greater community.
Community forums are scheduled:
- Nov. 3, 7 to 9 p.m., Dimmitt Middle School, 12320 80th Ave. S.
- Nov. 4, 7 to 9 p.m., McKnight Middle School, 1200 Edmonds Ave. NE
- Nov. 9, 7 to 9 p.m., Nelsen Middle School, 2403 Jones Ave. S.
