Three Renton School Board Members on November 4 Ballot

November 4 is election day in Washington state. Local voters have opportunities to vote for school board candidates, mayor for the City of Renton, Renton council positions and more.

Three Renton School District board members are on the ballot. Lynn Desmarais, David Merrill and Joy Poff are running for re-election. Desmarais and Merrill are unopposed on the ballot. Joy Poff is challenged by Will Jones.

Poff has served on the board for 16 years as board president and chairing numerous committees. Jones has been active in PTA groups serving as legislative chair for the past two years. (Read more about the candidates in the voter’s pamphlet due out in mid-Oct. and in the Seattle Times “Voter’s Guide” insert Oct. 21.)

Important dates for the Nov. 4 election:

  • Voters must now be registered to vote. If you’re a new voter (registering for the first time in King County), you must register in person by Oct. 20, at the King County Election office at 500 4th Ave., Room 552, Seattle.
  • Absentee ballots will be mailed the week of Oct. 13.
  • Remember to vote Nov. 4 (Absentee ballots must be postmarked by that day.)
