School Construction Bond Election Update - March 2003

March 5, 2003 - The hand recount today of ballots cast in the February 4 school bond election produced an additional two votes, bringing the percentage of “yes” votes to 59.96 percent, just missing the 60 percent supermajority mark. Of the 15,882 votes cast, the measure failed by seven votes.

Board members have started conversations with staff and community members, as well as looking at election data, and will decide what steps to take.

School districts can place measures before voters twice in a calendar year. The next election dates are in April and May.
