Renton's "Business Committed to Kids" Award - April 2003

Communities in Schools of Renton awards a "Business Committed to Kids Award" that recognizes and honors the contributions of Renton businesses supporting youth. Nominations for this award are being accepted through April 28, 2003. Nominees must do business within the Renton School District boundaries and provide a significant level of involvement to help youth in our community. The award will be announced in May 2003.

Honorees will be selected by representatives of the City of Renton, Communities in Schools of Renton, Renton Chamber of Commerce, Renton Education Association, and Renton School District. The selection will be based upon the business' involvement with youth that may include the following:
• Career exploration opportunities
• Job shadowing opportunities
• Employee release time to work with students
• Family friendly work policies
• Money or resources given to help programs designed to help students succeed
• Involvement with youth programs or other youth initiatives in the community
• Sponsorship of individual youth to assist them in succeeding in school and life
• Other activities which resulted in increased support for kids

Past "Business Committed to Kids Award" recipients have included Cat's Eye Group, Lande Feed, Target, The Boeing Company, Wizards of the Coast, and the Holiday Inn-Select/Renton.
