External Audit Finds Renton
School District Responsible Stewards of Taxpayer Dollars
June 6, 2003 - The Washington State
Auditor’s Office recently conducted an annual accountability
audit of the Renton School District and found the district to
be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
The state Auditor’s office performs
annual financial and legal compliance audits of all large school
districts and other state agencies. The district’s audit,
released today from the state, reported “no findings.”
Areas reviewed as part of the audit included finance, transportation
and personnel. The designation “no finding” indicates
the district is in compliance with state laws, is keeping track
of all assets and employs sound, fiscally responsible business
practices.
Rich Moore, the district’s Assistant
Superintendent for Business, applauded the efforts of his staff
as well as the hard work of principals and school staff to ensure
all revenues and expenditures are accounted for.
“Successful audits are a total
team effort,” Moore said. “To have an audit of this
breadth completed without a single negative finding is remarkable.
It is great to work with a department and district staff that
are such dedicated professionals.”
