Middle
School Summer School 2001
Purpose
Summer School is intended to
provide student remedial assistance in developing effective
study habits and critical thinking skills in the content areas
for future academic achievement.
Summer school is available
to any RSD student who has completed grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 with
a grade point average of "C". Students unprepared
for the next grade level will need to go to summer school to
be assured of promotion to the next grade.
Summer School Courses:
Study and critical thinking
skills will center around the core disciplines of Language Arts,
Social Studies, Science, and Math. Remedial assistance in the
core subjects may also be taught.
Progress Reporting
Each student will keep a weekly
assignment sheet, which will be sent home the last day of each
week. Parents are expected to sign the weekly sheet, make comments,
and return the sheet to school. A weekly progress report written
by the teachers will be sent with the students. A final achievement
evaluation will be made at the end of summer school.

June 27 - July 27, 2001
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Note: There will be no school
on July 2, 3, and 4.

Transportation
Transportation between the
neighborhood elementary schools and your middle school will
be provided as part of the tuition fee.
Tuition
Tuition for the 2001 Middle
School Summer School Program is $225 per student. A few scholarships
may be available for qualified students. Contact the main office
of your middle school for additional information.
Due Dates
The registration fee of $50.00
is due by June 20, 2001. The balance of tuition is due July
6, 2001. Make checks payable to RSD Summer School.
Send the registration fee to
the main office of your Middle School.
Summer school will be filled
on a first-come first-served basis.
Refund Policy
Registration fees will not
be refunded.
Student Expectations
Attendance in Summer School
is contingent on adherence to regular behavioral and attendance
expectations.
Students who do not conform
to the expectations identified in the parent letter will be
dismissed from Summer School and registration fees will not
be refunded.
