High
School Summer School 2001
Purpose
Summer School is intended to provide
students from grades 9-12 an opportunity to improve their GPA
by making up a deficit credit.
Note: Summer School is not intended
as a program to allow students to finish "incomplete"
grades in courses. The students would be expected to fulfill
all the requirements of the summer school course; including
attendance, assignments and tests.
Summer School Courses
Courses selected for summer school
will come from the core disciplines of Language Arts, Social
Studies and Math. Courses characterized by a high student failure
rate will be held to the same competency standards as are required
during the regular school year. A student can earn a maximum
of one semester credit.
Method of Assessment, Evaluation
and Grading
Students will be held to the same
testing and grading standards as are required during the regular
school year.
Progress Reporting
Two weeks prior to the end of the
term a failure notice will be issued to students/parents as
needed.
Composition of Classes
Classes will be assigned by subject
area. Students will work from individual contracts with the
instructor. Grade levels and courses may be mixed, however,
students will be accountable for their own individual progress.
Transportation
Transportation will not be available.
No bus passes.
