Renton Educators Receive 'Ahead of the Class' Awards

Friday, April 6, Renton educators selected as "Ahead of the Class Winners" received a surprise visit from Realtor Marcie Maxwell, Superintendent Dolores Gibbons and Renton Chamber of Commerce Marketing Coordinator Susan Bressler. The award program is sponsored by the Community Development Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and recognizes and rewards teachers who demonstrate high standards of professionalism and innovation in teaching. On Tuesday, May 8, these teachers were honored at a reception at Renton Technical College featuring special guest emcee, Patti Payne.

Winners included Highland's Kari Rigg, Chris Wilkinson and Marian Tasa; Hazen's Karen Jones; Maplewood Heights' Wendy Rice; Benson Hill's Teresa Lind, Maxine Box, Melody Blackwood and June Nakano; Bryn Mawr's Mary Jo McLaughlin and Kohlwes Education Center's Theresa Clymer.
