McKnight Lancer Days 2008

Lancer Days is scheduled August 20th and August 21st. Please refer to the information listed below for your scheduled time. An emergency form was mailed home to you with an information packet. Please make any corrections, sign, date and return at Lancer Days to receive your class schedule and locker card. Students will have pictures taken and receive ID cards. We will only be taking pictures twice this year so students should get pictures taken on this date. Since we will have schedules available, you may pay class fees along with other school purchases. Cash or checks will be accepted (no credit cards). You will not be able to receive your schedule without a current emergency form filled out. McKnight Spirit wear is only available for a short time; samples will be available at Lancer Days.

Lancer Days Schedule:

8th Grade -- Wednesday, August 20, 2008 -- 8:30am to 11am

• A to M: 8:30am – 9:45am
• N to Z: 9:45am – 11:00am

7th Grade -- Wednesday, August 20, 2008 -- 12noon to 2:30pm

• A to M: 12:00noon – 1:15pm
• N to Z: 1:15pm – 2:30pm

6th Grade -- Thursday, August 21, 2008 -- 9am to 2pm, Closed for Lunch 11:00-11:55
Current immunizations required to pick up schedules

• A to F: 9:00 - 9:55am
• G to M : 10:00 - 10:55am
• N to S: 12:00 - 12:55pm
• T to Z: 1:00 - 1:55pm

Locker assignments and schedules will be handed out (schedules ONLY if emergency form and immunizations are up to date). You will also have the opportunity to pay school fees, buy book-covers, P.E. clothes and yearbooks, as well as take a brief tour of the school to prepare for the first day of school. You will need to make checks payable to McKnight. Students will also have the opportunity to have school pictures taken and pick up their ASB card.

PTSA will be selling book covers during orientation. You will need to make checks payable to McKnight PTSA for the book covers.

McKnight Lancer Days Check List

• Location 1 . Turn in Emergency Form to receive your schedule.
• Location 2 . Get your locker assignment card.
• Location 3 . Check out McKnight Spirit wear. It is only available at the beginning of the year.
• Location 4 . Check out the table with all the information on McKnight’s yearbook.
• Location 5 . Proceed to Cashier to make purchases. Fill out order form prior to getting in line.
• Location 6 . Show receipt to pick up P.E. Uniform
• Location 7 . Take receipt to picture area. You will need to show receipt in order to get an ASB sticker on your ID cards. All McKnight students must have a current ID card.
• Location 8 . Schedule a tour and arrange for help with lockers.
• Location 9 . Buy bookcovers and Parent Educational materials at PTSA table.

2008-2009 School Year Information

All incoming 6th graders must have their second MMR immunization before entering sixth grade AND beginning this year, must have had a immunization for chicken pox (varicella vaccine), or give the school the approximate date or age at the time of the disease

WHAT YOU WILL NEED ON THE FIRST DAY

• A 3–ring binder/notebook.
• Binder/notebook dividers (7th and 8th grades only).
• Notebook paper
• A plastic pouch for pencils and pens
• Two #2 pencils and two blue or black ink pens.

These supplies will help you to become organized and stay organized. Students will be required to cover all books that are issued to them. You DO NOT need to bring PE clothes or musical instruments on the first day.

PLEASE NOTE since one of our goals is to help students develop responsibility and to be organized, bookbags/backpacks/purses (of any size) are not permitted in the classroom. Students may bring bags to and from school, but during the school day they are to be stored in the lockers. Backpacks on wheels will not fit into the lockers at McKnight and are not allowed.
