MWH PTA WILL PROVIDE ACADEMIC SUPPORT:

Items that support this goal include, but are not mandated or limited to...

  • Book fair - Families may purchase books and help raise money for library fund.
  • Supplemental classroom supplies - Each teacher receives a classroom allowance for supplies not covered by the district.
  • Purchase of library books/magazines - PTA supplements the selection of books and magazines for the library and classrooms.
  • Computer lab - PTA has supplemented the computer lab with new software and updated equipment.
  • Musical supplies - PTA purchased keyboards, and a new music system for the music department.
  • Read-a-thon - Encourages reading at all grade levels with incentives and fun.
  • SALA Scholarship - PTA offers financial help to families with students needing summer school.
  • Art Appreciation - PTA provides funding to replenish supplies each year to bring art and art history into each classroom.
  • Extra Student Activities - Each teacher recieves an allotment per student to be used for enrichment activities such as fieldtrips, in-class presentations, etc.
  • Assemblies - These are provided through PTA funding to enhance the curriculum taught throughout the school.
  • Reflections Art Contest - This is a national PTA sponsored contest showcasing students' talents using a variety of art mediums.
  • Math Night - Our PTA has joined with the staff at Maplewood Heights to support this family orientated math focused event.
  • Science Fair - Students enter an experiment, display, or report to be displayed during the winter open house.
