A Message from the Principal Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! Lakeridge is an exciting, diverse learning community where our students, staff and families work together to increase student achievement. As a School-wide Title I school, Lakeridge offers assistance to all of our students with Flex Groups, an extra 35 minutes a day (Monday-Thursday) of reading or math in small groups. This school year brings exciting change and opportunity for improvements in student learning. On 30 Fridays throughout this year, teachers and school staff at all of the Renton School District buildings will come together to better plan and prepare lessons and materials, as well as improve instruction and curriculum. Students will come to school 90 minutes late on these Fridays (10:05 a.m. start time). See the district calendar for dates and information about the schedule for 1/2 day Kindergarten. The Renton School District has also provided each elementary school with a full-time professional development coach. As you can see, our staff is receiving the latest, state-of-the-art training in all areas of education. We hope you plan to visit our school this year. There are many opportunities to be involved at Lakeridge. We have a wonderful Parent Teacher Association (PTA). They provide much-needed funding for field trips and supplies, as well as fun activities for our students and families throughout the year. Please join the PTA. They need your help in order to be successful. Are you interested in being a mentor? We have children who would greatly benefit. If you have one hour a week for one special student, please contact Communities in Schools of Renton at 425-430-6656. We look forward to seeing you at our many daytime and evening activities during the year. As always, feel free to contact me at 425-204-4100 if you have any questions.
Thank you for visiting our web page!
