 What are our programs?

Hazelwood offers a complete basic education program to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We also offer many enrichment programs and opportunities; speech and language services, LAP (Learning Assistance Program) in reading for students in grades K, 1, and 2, and special education services for all grades. Also offered is E.L.L. (English Language Learners) services for our qualifying students.

We offer both half-day and a tuition supplemented full-day kindergarten program. All students in full day kindergarten and grades 1 through 5 participate in music, physical education, and library classes taught by certificated specialists. Students in all grades have access to and use computers and other technology on a regular basis. Students in fifth grade may also choose to participate in band, orchestra, safety patrol, and student helper programs. After school Spanish classes are also offered and are taught by a certificated teacher from the Associates In Cultural Exchange program.

Enrichment programs provided by volunteers include Cultural Arts programs, the Reading Express program, and after school sports programs. Cub scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts also meet on a regular basis.

Washington Mutual Bank, in conjunction with PTSA volunteers, offers student banking every Tuesday during lunchtime recess. Students are encouraged to open a savings account.

A vital partnership exists between the home and school. Parents are our partners in the important job of educating the children of this community.
