School District unveils new logo
First time in recent memory district has changed symbol representing commitment to education

September 25, 2008—As part of the nearly-completed work to improve its Web presence, the Renton School District has revamped its logo to better reflect student populations and the overall goal of providing every student with a world-class education. The Web site improvements are scheduled to unveil in early November. This marks the first time in recent memory that the district has altered its logo. The new brand depicts the three levels educational advancement—elementary, middle and high school — with students standing within the bold R, and portrays successful graduation with the launching of a mortarboard.
The swooping line trailing the mortarboard plays off of the logo design of Renton’s immensely successful “Ahead of the Curve” marketing campaign which, for more than 10 years has brought economic prosperity to the district, local businesses and other agencies throughout Renton.

Introduction of new logo to be cost neutral
As part of the new design, the district will standardize the look of business cards and letterhead for schools and departments. Templates will be provided for schools and departments to create their new documents. To keep the costs associated with the introduction of the new logo to a minimum, staff are asked to have new materials printed with the new logo only after current supplies are exhausted. The logo will be offered in both color and black & white formats. Staff are asked to continue printing the majority of documents in black & white.

New e-mail and Web address listed
As part of the improved Web site, the district has acquired a new Web address and e-mail address. The new Web address is www.rentonschools.us. E-mail addresses will now be listed as firstname.lastname@rentonschools.us. Those still typing in the old e-mail and Web addresses will automatically be redirected and connected. The new address is more user friendly and easier to communicate.

Conditions of Use
The Renton School District carefully limits the use of its logo. No other company or individual may use the district logo unless it has the express written permission of the district, or is licensed by the district to do so. The logo may not be used in connection with any product or service that is not Renton School District in any manner that is likely to cause confusion among users, or in any manner that disparages or discredits the district.

www.RentonSchools.us

The new website for the Renton School District

Arriving in February 2009

As part of the new website redesign we have created the domain www.rentonschools.us
Email can be sent to users at either address format.
Just replace the @renton.wednet.edu with @rentonschools.us on the address.

We set this up in advance so that print jobs that need to be ordered ahead of time could be printed with the new address.

Email to either domain name will work and continue to be supported.

Once we unveil the new website, all outgoing email will have the new address format. Email to the old address format will still come through.

You are welcome to use either format during this transition.
This is a great time to get subscriptions and website accounts switched over your new address format.

We will try to maintain the old addresses and redirect traffic until nearly all traffic is going to the new addresses.
After that, we will look at the sources of any remaining traffic to the old addresses and work to get them switched over.

This information was provided at the Principals meeting on September 23rd for them to disseminate to their buildings.
An official memo will go out closer to the go live of the website.
