  • Don’t talk with food in your mouth
  • Use level 1 voice
  • Chew with your mouth closed
  • Follow cafeteria staff directions

  • Eat your food only
  • Empty tray/trash into trash can (ice cream wrappers too!)
  • Leave table area clean (including floor)

Hallways and Foyer
Rules Student Teachers

Be Safe

 

  • Walk at all times on the right hand side of hallway
  • Stairs must be taken one step at a time with one hand on the handrail

 

  • Teachers present in hallway during transitions
  • Teachers escort students when whole class is going to specific destination
  • teach and reteach
  • stop and wait while other groups cross paths
  • stop groups at intersection corners

Be Respectful

 

  • Keep hands, feet and other objects to self (walls, people, artwork)
  • Use level 1 – 6” voice during other times (i.e. SFA transitions)
  • Voices OFF while classes are in session

  • Teachers will address behaviors (positive and negative)

Be Safe

 

  • Walk to the playground
  • Holding rail on the right going down the stairs

 

  • At least one Teacher monitoring each hallway on the way before recess
  • Teachers model, practice, and monitor the stairways

  • Voices off until the outside doors & voices off upon entering doors
  • Keep hands and feet to self (i.e. others and school property)
  • 2:00 recess “0” noise to recess (in hallway)
  • Teachers monitoring and enforcing no talking rule
  • Modeling, practice, and monitor as available

  • Line up quietly when signal is given the 1 st time
  • Retrieve and hold equipment quietly
  • Students “check in” with H.R. Teachers before a.m. recess
  • Playground/friendship issues need to be written out in the classroom before they go to Mrs. DeLeeuw (to be determined by the classroom Teachers)
  • Teachers will meet students at their line on time
  • Teachers will be visible for first couple of minutes of recess while kids check in

  • Teachers will lead the line of students to designated area and supervise an orderly seating process
  • Teachers will direct students into a single line and will lead students back to class
  • Teach/model/practice traffic patterns for after assemblies
  • Support staff monitor doorways

  • Students will demonstrate active listening throughout the assembly (eyes, ears, hands, feet, quiet mouth)

 

  • Maintain proximity with class, monitor and model expected behaviors.

Be Responsible

 

  • Enter and exit assembly quietly
  • Students will respond immediately to zero noise signal for attention
  • No drinks or bathroom breaks during a performance or speaker's presentation

  • Clap at appropriate times (using clapping etiquette)
  • Booing, yelling, whistling, hooting is not allowed
  • Students violating will be moved near an adult, placed in the office, or removed to intervention

  • Use the toilets and sinks appropriately
  • Keep the restroom clean
  • Teach/model expectations the first week of school
  • Remind and encourage appropriate bathroom times

  • Model/remind and recognize when bathroom expectations are being followed
  • Get a custodial report on cleanliness

Computer Lab
Rules Student Teachers

Be Safe

 

  • Walk in quietly and sit safely at an assigned computer.
  • Walk around the perimeter of the room.
  • Sit properly (no rolling or rocking)
  • Keep chairs stationary in front of computers.
  • Monitor students at all times
  • Keep the lab door locked when not using the room.

Be Respectful

 

  • Use quiet voices (Level 2) or headphones.
  • Keep headphones with corresponding computer and in-tact.
  • Use cups to signal having a question.
  • Leave computers on “Welcome” screen.
  • Leave the lab neat and tidy.

Be Responsible

 

  • Use the equipment appropriately.
  • Leave all lab equipment in the lab.
  • Leave the lab clean.
  • No food or drink in the lab.
  • Report any computer problems to their Teachers.
  • No food or drink in the lab.
  • Report any broken or frozen computers to Tech. Liaison by noting issues on the chart by the door.

Before School Drop off and After School Pick up in Front of the School
Rules Students Adults

Be Safe

  • Stay on the sidewalk only.
  • Load/Unload from the sidewalk
  • Wait for the car to come to a complete stop before loading/unloading.
  • Walk on the sidewalk. No tag, chasing, or ball playing.
  • Older siblings (not attending BME) stay outside the building & off the play toy.
  • Use crosswalk in the parking lot.
  • Load/unload on at the curb.
  • Drive below 5 mph. in parking area.
  • Drivers must stay in their cars at the curb.

Be Respectful

  • Follow adult & patrol directions the 1 st time
  • Do not socialize with patrol members when they are on-duty.
  • Stay out of flower beds.
  • Follow Disabled Parking laws.
  • Parked cars must be on the south side of the school.

Be Responsible

 

  • Once outside of the school, stay outside (do not return for bathroom, phone calls, finding others)
  • Walk directly home. Go directly to your pick-up area.
  • Stay off of the playground toys, fence, and play field
  • BME siblings meet outside of school at a pre-arranged location.
  • Pick up children on time.
  • Notify the office if there is a change in pick-up plan.

Wait your turn when exiting school.

Walk with friends and/or family, helping younger students.
